On a different tack, are any of your website guys members of team helmet? The reason I am wondering is if you are uncut and have never paid much attention to circumcision, the content of this site could seem quite bewildering.

Good question Nick. Of the four main Team Captains, three are Helmets and one is a Hoodie.

Dear THUK lads, i’m cut monkey tattoo fan. Love fur and beards and taches too. Have large dragon tattoo on my back which I’m very proud of. What these guys don’t understand is that when I’m old and wrinkly everyone will point at me and go “look at that bad ass old geezer, but he’s a good craig “

Oh dear, I would not like to bump into you on a dark night, or a light one for that matter! I would simply hand you my wallet and watch without conflict. Each to their own I suppose. I suppose in your circles being see as a “bad ass” would be a positive feature. It’s a shame in today’s crumbling society a differing opinion is now considered hate. Good luck to you Mr Dan and every stroke of ink you have permanently impregnated into you flesh.

I don’t think having a differing opinion is considered hate. But when you use words like “horrendous” to describe his inked body and suggesting he has “abused his body” then I think most rational people would think you are being unnecessarily negative and unpleasant. What is the point in sharing such negativity with others? We all have likes and dislikes about each other’s bodies. But we don’t all share all the dislikes in such a negative way. This site is surely about celebration, sharing and support.

You are probably trying to be witty, but the suggestion that someone is likely to rob you in the street just because they have tattoos and a beard is jaw-dropping. In my humble opinion is it is fine to have personal preferences but if there are things you don't like about someone's appearance it is polite not to mention it: concentrate on the positive or say nothing. I was taught to be polite from an young age. You talk about a 'crumbling society' but surely if it is indeed crumbling then a lack of politeness these days is an indicator of this.

“in my circles”, just to let you know, I’m a consultant anaesthetist in the NHS.

One of my best friends is Jewish, and he told me that apparently, according to the Torah, you are not allowed to have tattoos if you are Jewish. He is not especially orthodox. I must admit I am not a fan of the ink myself, but to each his own. I wonder if other religions have such strange rules?.

Mark, you're right about the Torah. Amy Winehouse always said her tattoos were to rebel against her Jewish religion, however later in life she used them to promote acceptance of ink by the Jewish community.

There is always the fact that many people regard all circumcised men as 'disfigured' or 'mutilated', let alone understanding why any of us CHOOSE to have it done for æsthetical reasons.

Will - what especially annoys me is that when you get the occassional pro-circ You Tube video from a bloke who chose to be circumcised as an adult you STILL get them crawling out of the woodwork with their abuse - and they nearly always finish off their diatribe with "a foreskin is a birthright not a birth defect" as if they are the first one to think of the cliche' - they all probably think they are the new Oscar Wilde.

Mark - yes indeed. Happens on all sorts of sites. I was just watching a series on YouTube of a guy aged 27 who was circumcised in April from choice (xkyal), and the comments have attracted one or two of them, though most are very positive.

Islam prohibits tattoos; they are haram. I'm not a big fan of tattoos, but each to their own, live and let live, just like being cut. If you haven't got anything nice to say, don't open your mouth...

What British men are packing downstairsMore than one in five British men are circumcised (helmets/roundheads), but a lot of our cut brothers have grown up feeling isolated. Categories
